Jan 2024 feels just like yesterday for most people.
Some of them sounds like a normal realisation to them, whereas some are shocked.
"Omg another year gone…"
2025 will just be another repetition if you don't take action.
Past is past…
Hit the reset button.
The following process is how I hit the reset button every once in a while life gets hectic.
▷ Feeling lost in life
▷ My vision becoming blurry
▷ Questioning the meaning of life
I know everyone tells you to write things down.
But this method is much better in my opinion,
Delve into the blackhole of your own thoughts.
Choose a quiet place
It could be your quiet room, going for a walk, or even taking a shower.
What we want to avoid is distractions.
Why? Because distractions are the enemy of flow state.
Flow state is where you can turn imagination into a reality, the impossible into possible.
Swim in your thoughts
As long as there isn't distractions, this process will come naturally.
You will find yourself lost in your thoughts.
Good!
Listen to them, your subconscious knows you best.
If there is truly something you want to pursue, it's hidden in the subconscious.
Search for it, find it.
Your current life sucks because your subconscious mind disapproves of your daily choices.
Look for something that you can achieve by quarter of 2025.
Set a goal for end of 2025 and you will never achieve it.
Why?
Because you will procrastinate. You know it, I know it.
Find something that will give you fulfilment, something that will boost your confidence.
It doesnt necessarily has to be starting a business. It could be
➥ Learning a new skill
➥ Learning a new language
➥ Learning a new course.
The key is to align it with your long term vision.
➦ Building a business - learn a new skill
➦ Living in different country - learn a new language
➦ Promotion in your job - Learn a new course
Have a vague vision, but clear goal.
Goals are milestones that will take you to the finish line.
But avoid this at all cost:
Being assigned a goal by other people
"You should start a business"... Screw that, start slow.
Starting something only to quit is worse than never starting.
Do something meaningful and set the course of life towards success.
Plan
Now that you that goal in mind, you need three things.
❖ Research
❖ Time
❖ Accountability
For research, what do you need to research to get started e.g. courses, mentors, etc…
For time, be specific. Roughly, how long do you need to spend per week to achieve that goal?
For accountability, you need something to hold you accountable. Trust me, one week in 2025, all the excitement will fade away and you will want to crawl back to your comfort zone.
For these, you might want to write them down, or keep them in front of your mind.
Next is to prioritise, eliminate and optimise
✧ Prioritise to gain clarity
✧ Eliminate to priortise
✧ Optimise to succeed.
Restructure specific tasks and obligation to free up more time.
How?
Start thinking outside the box
Both of these:
⁍ Reducing gaming hours (elimination)
⁍ Reducing studying/ working hours (optimisation)
Lead to more time working on your goals.
Choose how you wanna play the game.
There are no rules, you create the rules.
Roadmap
Create a roadmap.
Distill it into weekly deadlines.
Daily are too short and monthly are too long, weekly are the perfect spot.
Construct weekly schedules and tasks, vaguely.
Remember you always start vaguely, with uncertainty.
With action you gain clarity.
One way to gain clarity faster is to build systems.
The ultimate systems in our lives are called habits.
Bad habits are difficult to break.
Good habits are also difficult to build.
But once you combine both, it's very easy.
Replace a bad habit with a good one.
Start small, a very small tweak could get the job done sometimes.
For example, if your goal is to learn a language,
Scrolling → scrolling in your target language
Series → watch series in your target language
Playing games→ change the langue of the game to your target language
Always start small, improve along the way.
Routines
If you want to make this journey the easiest it could be, routines are a must.
Build your own routine:
✤ Morning routine
✤ Focused work routine
✤ Night routine
This will help you reduce friction of making decisions and enter the flow easily.
At first it won't flow like rivers but over time with experimentation, you will build the perfect routine.
Good news
A study showed that, if you create focus on specific goals, it allows the brain to create new, stronger bonds between neurons and help increase the likelihood of achieve them.
This means that as long as you keep on pursuing your goals and vision, you will achieve them one day.
With that being said, I hope you make 2025 your year.
